You can learn everything that you need to know to successfully win a child custody battle in this helpful child custody report.

Ohio Child Custody Law: Child Custody Information

Fighting for child custody can be a long and difficult battle. It is quite common that both parents feel they are the better parent, and it is left up to the courts to decide how custody will be handled.

I thought it would be helpful for me to share a few critical suggestions on how to help your case for child custody:

1) Show Who You Are: You need to show the court that you are the better parent. Simply saying "I'm the mother or I'm the father" is not going to be good enough. You will need to prove that you have shared many meaningful experiences with your child(ren), and that you are more than capable of being the main caretaker.

2) Record Everything: When you get into the courtroom, it is hard to remember all of the things you have done for your children, showing you are a great parent, and it is very helpful to record them down beforehand. These would include any type of financial, spiritual, emotional, educational, as well as physical support. Of course the more you can show, the better off you'll be. Always look to overimpress.

Things to Be Careful Of

1) Never Assume You Will Win: It is dangerous to go into a custody battle assuming that you've already won. Nothing is as precious as our children, and you need to go into the courtroom doing everything possible to prove that. Overconfidence can lead us to not push as hard.

2) Placing Blame On Others: It is easy to blame the other parent for problems and issues, but try to resist this temptation. The judge is interested in the welfare of the children, not the issues surrounding why the parents are not together. Try to keep those matters out of the courtroom..

Do whatever you can to organize your thoughts, and prepare yourself. The point I am trying to make here is that you need to show the court in the most straight-forward manner possible, that you are a great parent. Unfortunately this can be hard to do sometimes, especially when you are nervous, and this is why preparation is so important.
